Dennis Township Middle School Student Government members, under the direction of Mrs. Lisa Salimbene, have been checking and making note of the bluebird progress in the bird houses placed in the school's fields last spring. The houses give bluebirds a safe nesting place to attract more to the area. Students trek out a few times a week to make notes about the nests, eggs, fledglings, and bird activity. "It's a great way for students to get to know the local bird community, be in touch with nature, and learn how to help our flying friends," Salimbene reported. Gail Fisher came out last year to teach students about bluebirds and returned this year to check up on the houses and progress.
The Student Government Bluebird Committee consists of Kristina Gagliardi, Mason Nees, Mackenzie Hand, DJ Harris, Gianna Cheseroni, Isabelle Phillips, and Rachael Farschon. Not pictured but part of the original Bluebird Crew are Holly McGurk and Caitlin McGurk.
