Dennis Township Elementary /Middle school Celebrated Pi 3.14 Day with some some sweet treats on Wednesday! Pi is the mathematical ratio between the diameter and circumference of a circle.
Students entered the building with music playing and Pi decorations of all sorts all over the halls of the school. Students were filled with energy and excitement about the upcoming Pi day events.
Each grade level was given challenging Pi day math questions to complete and every student who got 100% correct was entered into the Pi day drawing. 150 students from grades 4-8 got 100% accuracy and were honored at the afternoon's Pi Day Celebration.
Principal VanArtsdalen surprised each student at lunch by serving them all warm apple pie in honor of the day, since one can’t have Pi day without apple pie.
The day ended with more Pie fun. 8 students were drawn from the 150 students who scored 100% correct to pie 5 teachers and the principal in the face. Ms. Peabody, Ms. Holman, Mrs Riggitano, Ms. Gonnam , Mr. Gurdgiel and Principal VanArtsdalen were all good sports and took the pies to the face. 13 more students were drawn from the group and received gift cards, free ice cream, and dance passes.Eighth grader, Caitlin McGurk memorized 84 numbers of the Pi 3.14 sequence.
