6th grade students at Dennis Township Middle School brought home plants for Mother's Day gifts this past week.
Smeltzer's in Cape May Court House donated soil, peat pots and flower seeds so students could make their own special Mother's Day flower pot to take home.
In addition, the 6th grade classes are participating in Tomatosphere, a program where the students planted tomato seeds that spent time in space at the International Space Station after traveling on the SpaceX Dragon rocket.
They have planted the seeds along with a control group of normal seeds to see if there is any difference between the plants as they grow and mature.
The students are excited about this opportunity to both grow plants for Mom and participate in a worldwide science experiment, says 6th grade homeroom teacher Marni McCann.
