Dennis Township students in fourth through eighth grades enjoyed hot chocolate and information about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) careers in the first DT Career Cafe. Starting in November, guidance counselor Monica DiVito, working with media specialist Julie Factor in the school library, will have students take an on-line career assessment that will help them determine a possible career cluster to investigate. In addition, the district purchased a Virtual Job Shadow program that will help students explore and understand different careers or career paths.
DiVito says she and Factor are planning follow-up activities in the Career Cafe that will focus on specific career clusters, as well as preparing for job interviews and writing resumes for seventh and eighth grade students. Students participating in the Career Cafe will come to the library during lunch and can enjoy hot chocolate while exploring career ideas. All of these activities lead up to the Dennis Township School Job Fair scheduled to take place on February 24th, 2017.
The next Career Cafe will be on December 6th and will focus on careers in the medical field.
