Outdoor Air Quality Alert

Dear Dennis Township Families,

By now we are all aware of the issue with outdoor air quality as a result of wildfires. Please be advised  we will be taking a day-by-day approach to having students outside for any period of time. If the air quality is poor, we will hold all classes and recesses indoors. If you have a specific concern about your child, please call the school nurse.

The following information is provided to inform our families about the effects of poor air quality. Symptoms associated with wildfire smoke particles may include:

  • Coughing
  • Chest tightness or trouble breathing
  • Itchy or running eyes or nose
  • Burning eyes
  • Itchy or dry throat
  • Increased asthma symptoms for those with asthma
It is recommended that individuals in sensitive groups shorten their time spent outdoors and avoid strenuous activity. Keeping windows and doors closed will reduce particles that enter indoor spaces. This temporary outdoor air quality situation may raise concerns. We assure you we are closely monitoring conditions. We encourage everyone to consider their personal health concerns. It is important to be attentive to symptoms, especially when outdoors.  The well-being of our staff, students and their families is foremost in our considerations. Please call the school at 609-861-2821 if you have questions or concerns.
